Homemade Ice Cream Cones

Making your own homemade ice cream cones is fun and delicious! You can fit any lifestyle and know exactly the ingredients that are used!

  1. Make your flax egg by mixing 1 tablespoon of ground flax seeds in to 3 tablespoons of water. Let this mixture sit for 10 minutes. You will know it is ready when it has fully
    “gelled”.
  2. Turn your waffle iron on to warm.
  3. Whisk together all of the powdered ingredients.
  4. Add one liquid ingredient at a time making sure everything is fully combined.
  5. Add in your flax egg.
  6. Place 2 tablespoons of your batter into the iron.
  7. Press down and wait for the light to come on.
  8. If you want the waffle cone to be smaller add less batter and add a little more of you want the waffle cone to be larger.
  9. Gently remove the waffle cone with a fork.
  10. Place on a cutting board with parchment paper.
  11. Using your shaped cone, gently start wrapping the cone around the shape with your fingers.
  12. Use a dry tea towel to keep going. Try to focus on the bottom of the cone. You must work fast here, the tighter you can make it the better.
  13. Before removing the cone, press firmly on the seam with a paper towel or tea towel, and carefully slide the roller out.
  14. Place on a wire rack to cool. I used an egg rack. Repeat above steps until you are out of batter.
  15. Note you have to enjoy these right away for them to stay crispy. You can repress them in the waffle cone maker if you want to enjoy later, but you will have to re-roll the cones to set again.

Notes

  • You can make this recipe without a waffle cone maker by getting a silicone baking sheet and spreading batter into circles to bake in the oven.
  • For this recipe, I used a Waffle Cone Maker, Parchment Paper, Rack For Cones To Set, Tea Towels.
