I’ve been DYING to make my own superfood turtles lately and today was the day. These are ooey and gooey and super fun to make just because by yourself, with kids or for any party. It’s a turtle but with brittle at the same time. Therefore you get the best of both worlds turtle with more crunchy chocolate. I made these just for the simple joy of playing in the kitchen today and I hope they do the same for you…not to mention they are SUPER easy to make. From my tiny kitchen to yours. ENJOY!

What You Will Need
  • food processor
  • double broiler

Chocolate layer:

Caramel Filling:

Pecan Base:

  •  16 (Ounce) oz Pecans
  1. Make caramel.

    Places all caramel date ingredients into your food processor and blend until smooth. If your mix is super dense keep adding splashes of water.
  2. Make Chocolate.

    Add all of your chocolate ingredients to your food processor or double broiler – I used my double broiler. The raw monk fruit will take some time to whisk. Whisk until fully melted and smooth.
  3. Start building your turtles.

    Layer down the chocolate first into circles – or the best circles you can get. (Doesn’t have to be perfect).
  4. Add Pecans.

    Add the pecans as your second base. Think of them being the arms and body of your turtles. 🙂
  5. Add the caramel.

    Time to add your caramel – this is one of my favorite steps as it really starts to look like a turtle now. 🙂
  6. Pour it up.

    Time to pour on the chocolate over the caramel for the top coating, & last but not least if you would like to add on the grand superfood finale – POUR on the blue-green spirulina powder.Place in the freezer to set for about 30-60 minutes. Store in the freezer for up to 2-3 months if they can last that long.
