I absolutely love creating my own skin care products (such as the Gentle Oatmeal & Honey Exfoliator)! I have full control of the ingredients, I can make it the way I want to, and my skin thanks me every day. Creating this Rose Helichrysum Skin Serum, was the perfect beginning of fall skin care recipe. If you haven’t created your own skin care products yet, do not worry! I’ve included a ton of helpful resources and some books to buy!
The Skin Serum Inspiration
Rose Helichrysum Skin Serum is a recipe from one of my top, go-to books named “Botanical Skin Care Recipe Book” from Herbal Academy. Herbal Academy was so kind enough to let me share this recipe with all of you. They are also one of my all-time favorite places to learn about herbalism.
When thinking about what recipe I needed to create, I thought about my partner Dan. He has very sensitive skin that can easily get flared up with redness. During the fall time here in Southern California, the air gets extremely dry and this can get agitating. I decided to make this Rose Helichrysum Skin Serum to help him with the dry weather.

The Promise
Reading the description in the book: “This serum supports skin healing to reduce scarring, infusing rose (Rosa spp.) into jojoba oil takes this serum to the next level”. Seeing that this serum helps with calming and moisturizing the skin, I knew it would be the perfect solution for him. I’ll be honest I was also really excited to try it myself, and have to admit I enjoying switching to this serum from time to time.

Only A Few Ingredients
What also drew me into making this recipe was that it called for only a few staple ingredients, such as rose petal infused jojoba oil, rose-hip seed oil, baobab oil, chamomile, and helichrysum essential oil. Yup! That’s only 5-6 ingredients in total!

So, Where is a good place to get my ingredients?
For these ingredients, I went to my favorite source, Mountain Rose Herbs. Mountain Rose Herbs has been my go-to source for herbs, adaptogens, oils, and household staples for our pantry for years now and many years to come. You can expect that any herbs from Mountain Rose Herbs are completely organic, sustainable, high-quality herbs, adaptogens, spices, and botanical products. This makes it extremely easy for me to find everything that I could ever want and need.
Fair warning. As you start making your own skincare, you can get lost on their site for hours getting creative with all the different ingredients they have.

The Result
I have to say, the Rose Helichrysum Skin Serum turned out amazing! After a couple weeks of use, Dan’s skin was so much more clear. The redness was minimal and dryness was gone! I’ll definitely be making this recipe again.

Where can I learn more about homemade herbal skincare?
If you enjoy reading, this book: Botanical Skin Care Recipe Book. It’s packed full of different recipes from beginner to advanced and has something for everyone.
However, I learned most of my skincare knowledge taking the Herbal Academy course titled Botanical Skin Care Course. I can’t recommend the course enough! It dives into Ayurveda, Chinese Medicine practices, ingredients, herbal practices, how to make easy & beautiful skincare, & so much more! This post is NOT sponsored or gifted, I spent my own money on this course, and love sharing what I learn and helping others find inspiring content!
