Adding herbs

Coconut milk is creamy and full of healthy fats, making for super soothing and delicious moon milk. If you want to substitute another milk, you can use any milk of your choice.

Red rooibos tea has a warm scent and a natural sweetness to it. It’s full of antioxidants and beneficial nutrients and minerals.

Dried blueberries, a.k.a. bilberries, are known to have antioxidants and fight free radicals.

Hibiscus flowers are known for their tropical red flowers, and make a popular tea with refreshing qualities.

Lavender is a popular powerhouse of a soothing herb, and for good reason. With a lovely floral aroma and flavor, and amazing relaxing properties, lavender is the star of the show in this recipe.

Elderberry powder is known for its healthful properties and boosting immunity. It has a dark berry earthy flavor, and this recipe lends its less-bitter dried counterpart in powder form.

Vanilla bean powder has a unique and complex flavor that is sweet with just a little bit of spice.

Stevia, Honey, or maple syrup to sweeten to taste.

How to Make Lavender Blueberry Moon Milk

First, steep your tea. Place the rooibos, dried blueberries, hibiscus, and lavender into a teapot and steep for 10 minutes.

While the tea is steeping, warm the coconut milk, using a whisk to froth if desired.

Using one or two teacups, mix the tea and coconut milk together and stir in the sweetener to taste.

Sprinkle the top with elderberry and vanilla bean powders. Sip, relax, breathe out your worries, and enjoy!

When should I drink moon milk? This delicious and calming drink is meant to drink right before bedtime to calm you and promote a good night’s sleep. However, if you are having a stressful and restless day, you can drink it at any time.

What kinds of milk can I use? This recipe calls for coconut milk for its non-dairy aspect with a creamy texture. My second go-to is a blend of coconut and almond milk. Any non-dairy milk can be used to keep the vegan aspect, but if you prefer and tolerate cow milk that is also an option.

What is moon milk for? The idea of this warm drink is to bring a grounding and calm energy to you when you need it. Paired with a ritual, it provides space for you to reconnect with yourself, and let go of your struggles. The herbs and berries are sleep supportive so you can get a good night’s rest.
