As fall starts to roll in, most people start reaching the comfort of pumpkin spice. Here in Southern California, those days are a little farther away. While the rest of the country is feeling the brisk fall weather, our temperatures are getting a boost. That’s where the Late Summer Ruby Red Grapefruit & Thyme Spritzer comes in. This drink is bubbly, refreshing, and the perfect mid-afternoon pick-me-up. With the warmer temperatures, we need all of the hydration that we can possibly consume. Does anyone else have trouble drinking all of the water in order to stay hydrated? Yeah, me too.

I am, so let’s dive in! For this drink, I used a ruby red grapefruit from the local farmers market, but you can use any citrus that you have on hand. I also paired the drink with Thyme.
Thyme is an herb I’ve been studying after an herbal workshop that I took through Sage Country Herbs. It’s amazing how we can actually forget how precious and powerful Thyme truly is. Thyme is packed with Vitamin C and Vitamin A, rendering it as a natural immune booster. It also has a lovely warming quality to balance out the citrus.
The most magical thing about making your own herbal and natural flavored drink, is that you have full control of the ingredients. Don’t get me wrong, I love drinking store-bought naturally flavored sparkling water, but making your own takes it to the next level. The inspiration for the Late summer ruby red grapefruit & thyme spritzer came from wanting to make a homemade version of an all naturally flavored sparkling water. Let’s be honest it’s also way more fun to make your own homemade anything, especially if you can forage and grow your own herbs!
